Frequently Asked Questions

What involvement do I have with my case?

We understand that many people have never filed a lawsuit before, so expectations about client participation level may vary, depending on factors like comfort level, availability, and experience. The fact that you’re seeking out an attorney means that whatever your case is, it’s serious and important to you. With that understanding, we’re able to embrace your unique needs, helping you understand the process and tailoring our approach to support the level of involvement you’re able to give. Wherever you are in life, you can be sure that we’re moving the process forward, considering the results you’re after and how best to attain them.

How involved will I be in the decision-making process of my case, and will I have the final say on major decisions?

Your case is your case. While we offer direction and guidance from the passenger seat, you’re the driver. So, you make all the major decisions. Rest assured, we provide clear communication throughout, striving to ensure that you are prepared and confident when making them.

Can you explain the legal process in simple terms and provide updates on my case’s progress?

We want you to understand your case, every step of the way. So, we’re ready to explain common practices, possible action items, and events in your process, without the “legalese.” Our firm is founded on the belief that everyone should have access to representation and justice they deserve. That means transparency. The legal system shouldn’t be hard to navigate. With LegalAlly, you can rest assured it won’t be.

How do you determine the best strategy for my case, and will you consider my preferences and priorities?

Adam has litigated cases since 2008. This experience provides him a full understanding of what strategies work and don’t work. There are a range of factors that influence the best possible strategy for your case, and a lot of those factors are about who you are, what you’re after, and what you need along the way. By listening to your process preferences, desired level of involvement, and top priorities, we’ll work with you to secure a resolution.

What costs and fees should I expect, and will there be ongoing communication about financial aspects throughout the case?

There is no fee to speak with us. We’re here to help. Sometimes that takes the form of a conversation, so you can learn what options are available. The only time there will ever be a fee for legal services is when we’ve successfully secured a resolution and completed your case. This fee will be communicated clearly and upfront within the legal process, so you don’t have to contend with surprise costs down the line. In the event that there is no case, there will be no charge for advice.

Will I need to go to court and will my case go to trial?

The vast majority of cases do not go to trial, and clients are subsequently not required to go to court. But, If the option is presented, the decision of whether to accept a settlement or go to trial is yours to make. We will provide you with information and advice, so you can evaluate each option in the context of you and your family’s needs and goals. If it will be beneficial for your case to go to court and you elect for that option, Adam will meet with you beforehand so you know what to expect. Like we say, empathy and experience, every step of the way.
